Mark these dates
Michigan makes voting flexible, but a few dates are hard deadlines. Put these on your calendar now — not the night before.

| Oct 9 | Last day to register online, by mail, or in person at your local clerk’s office before Election Day. (After this date, you can still register — see below.) |
| Oct 26 | Early voting begins statewide. Every Michigan voter now has access to at least 9 days of early, in-person voting. |
| Oct 30 | Last day to request an absentee ballot online or by mail. After this date, you can still get one in person at your clerk’s office up until 4pm the Friday before Election Day. |
| Nov 3 | Election Day. Polls are open 7am–8pm. If you’re in line by 8pm, you get to vote. |
Missed Oct 9? You can still register.
Michigan has same-day registration. Right up through Election Day, you can register to vote (or update your address) in person at your city or township clerk’s office with proof of residency — a driver’s license, state ID, utility bill, or paycheck all work. You’ll vote the same day you register.
Voting absentee
Any registered Michigan voter can request an absentee ballot for any reason — no excuse required. Once you’re on the Permanent Absentee Voter List, you’ll automatically receive an application before every election.
